A Closer Look at U.S. Zinc
U.S. Zinc is a dynamic global company that is owned by the Votorantim Group. It is affiliated with Votorantim Metais (VM) which is one of the five largest zinc producers in the world, the largest primary aluminum producer in Brazil and a leader in nickel electrolyte production in Latin America.
Headquartered in Houston, Texas, U.S. Zinc produces zinc dust, zinc oxide, and zinc metal, including prime western (PW) grade zinc metal and continuous galvanizing grade (CGG) zinc metal.
U.S. Zinc manufacturers zinc oxide from high grade (HG) and special high grade (SHG) zinc metal as well as from zinc secondaries. With plants in Brazil, China, and the United States, we are the largest producer of zinc oxide in the world.
U.S. Zinc also produces zinc dust from high grade (HG) and special high grade (SHG) zinc metal as well as from zinc secondaries. The company’s zinc dust plant which is located in Houston, Texas, is the largest, single site, distilled dust plant in the world. We use specialized technology to produce a wide range of dust grades, which is unmatched in North America. With a continuous manufacturing history of more than 50 years, our zinc dust plant offers a reliable supply of quality product.
The company’s Zinc Metal Department produces prime western (PW) grade zinc metal in its Houston, Texas and Coldwater, Michigan plants. Both plants are full service providers to the hot-dip galvanizing industry.
The Zinc Metal Department also manufacturers continuous galvanizing grade (CGG) zinc metal at its plants in Coldwater, Michigan and Tres Marias, Brazil. Our process recycles top dross, a by-product from the continuous galvanizing industry, into CGG grade metal.
In addition, U.S. Zinc has a very active and aggressive Distribution and Trading Department. Located in Houston, Texas, it is the largest North American buyer of zinc secondaries for internal use and external sale.
